THE GUCCI jackie

The original Jackie bag was designed in the 1950s, and its hobo shape was popular in the bohemian ’60s and ’70s. It was famously reinvented by Gucci creative directors Tom Ford in 1999 and Frida Giannini in 2009.

As this classic bag has seen multiple variations over nearly 70 years, there are countless styles of vintage Jackie bags available to buy now.

The Jackie bag is designed in the ’50s and is one of Gucci’s most iconic bags. Originally the bag was designed as a unisex model, but soon it grew into a beloved ladies’ bag.

At first, the Gucci bag was called ‘The Constance’. In 1964, Mrs Kennedy was spotted carrying the bag and afterwards, it became an instant hit. She liked the bag so much, she bought six of them. She was the most stylish lady ever and was a huge fashion icon at that time. So it is not a surprise, that she was a big influencer for fashion lovers. As a tribute to Jacqueline Kennedy, Gucci changed the name of the bag to the 'Jackie'.
